From Humble Beginnings introduces students to philanthropist and native son George Peabody. The program also discusses what it was like to live in Peabody/South Danvers in the early 19th century. This program is suited for third grade students.
Connections to Massachusetts History and Social Science Curriculum Frameworks— Grade Three:
- On a map of Massachusetts, locate the class’s home town or city and its local geographic features and landmarks.
- Identify historic buildings, monuments, or sites in the area and explain their purpose and significance.
- Explain how objects or artifacts of everyday life in the past tell us how ordinary people lived and how everyday life has changed.
