All interns must:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate college or university program
  • Have an interest in North Shore history and be willing to greet visitors on an occasional basis
  • Have above-average communication skills
  • Be familiar with Internet navigation and research
  • Be able to work in a fun environment and have a sense of humor
The museum is a couple of miles off of Route 128 in Peabody, with ample parking. Benefits include flexible days/hours and free admission to many historical sites in Essex County.

Internships

The GEORGE PEABODY HOUSE MUSEUM is looking for interns to fill the following positions:

Research Assistant

The Research Assistant intern will identify a historical topic relevant to the museum�s mission statement, research the topic, and prepare a final report and/or lecture.

Collections Manager

The Collections Manager intern will assist in cataloging and photographing the museum collection using Past Perfect software. The intern will also learn museum preservation standards by re-housing artifacts in the museum�s collection.

Exhibition Specialist

The Exhibition Specialist intern will work with the museum curator to plan a small-scale temporary exhibition.

Public Relations and Marketing Manager

The Public Relations and Marketing Manager intern will conduct a demographic study of the museum�s current and potential audiences. The intern will also create strategies for increasing the museum�s profile within the community while developing the museum�s brand.

Museum Education Coordinator

The Museum Education Coordinator intern will assist the curator in setting up educational programs and developing new educational opportunities. Responsibilities include meeting with school and community groups, researching and developing PowerPoint presentations in addition to programs and activities.
