George Peabody House Museum One of the city's hidden jewels


Memorial Church, Georgetown, Massachusetts

George Peabody greatly admired the town of Georgetown, Massachusetts. His mother, Judith, was born there, and his sister, also Judith, lived there for many years. George himself visited the town several times and stayed with his sister. To honor his mother, he donated $75,000 in 1866 to build the Memorial Church. He also build a library in the town that same year.
