Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts
In 1866, continuing with his goal of endowing educational institutions, George Peabody gave $25,000 to Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Peabody regarded the school highly; he had paid for his nephews Othniel Charles Marsh and George Peabody Russell to attend.
The school was founded in 1778 as one of the country’s oldest boarding schools. Today,
"The school strives to help young people achieve their potential not only intellectually, but also artistically, athletically and morally."
